Product Specification: Oil Cans
An Oil Can is a specialized dispensing container used to apply small, controlled amounts of lubricating oil to machinery parts, hinges, or bearings. While modern aerosol sprays exist, manual oil cans remain the industry standard for precision lubrication and high-viscosity oils.
1. Common Types
- Pump Oiler (Pistol Grip): Features a trigger-actuated pump mechanism to force oil through a nozzle. The most common workshop variety.

- Lever Action: Uses a thumb-operated lever on top of the handle to dispense oil.
- Gravity Feed (Squirt Can): A simple flexible or rigid metal container where oil flows via gravity or by squeezing the sides (often seen in vintage designs).
- Precision Pen Oiler: Small, pocket-sized tubes with a needle-thin applicator for delicate electronics or sewing machines.

3. Key Specifications
- Capacity: Commonly ranges from 125ml (4 oz) to 1000ml (32 oz).
- Spout Length: Standard lengths are 100mm (4"), 150mm (6"), and 230mm (9").
- Pressure Output: High-pressure pump oilers can deliver a stream of oil up to 3–5 meters depending on oil viscosity.
- Finish: Powder-coated (Red/Blue/Green), Zinc-plated, or polished Chrome for chemical and rust resistance.
4. Performance Requirements
- Leak-Proof Seals: Must feature high-quality gaskets (usually Viton or Nitrile) at the pump and spout junctions to prevent "bleeding" when stored.
- Filter Screen: Quality oilers include a fine mesh filter at the base of the suction tube to prevent debris from clogging the pump or nozzle.
- Self-Priming: The pump should remain primed even after short periods of non-use, allowing for immediate dispensing.
- Ergonomics: The handle should allow for a full-palm grip to reduce hand fatigue during repetitive tasks.
