Product Description

Product Specification :
Cyclone Washers, also known as storm washers or saddle washers, are high-performance sealing components designed for areas prone to high winds, heavy rain, and tropical storms. Unlike standard flat or umbrella washers, a cyclone washer features a wide, contoured metal profile that matches the "crest" (the peak) of corrugated or trapezoidal roofing sheets, providing massive surface area for load distribution.

1. Anatomy and Design
The cyclone washer is a composite fastener consisting of two main parts:
The Profiled Plate: A large, rigid metal plate (usually square or rectangular with rounded corners) that is pre-curved to fit the specific rib profile of the roofing material.
The EPDM Gasket: A thick, soft rubber layer bonded to the entire underside of the plate. This provides the primary water seal and dampens vibration during high winds.

2. Material Specifications
To withstand extreme environments, these washers are built from premium materials:
Feature    Specification
Metal Base    Aluzinc, G300 Galvanized Steel, or Aluminum (for coastal zones).
Gasket Material    High-Grade EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer).
Standard Finish    Often color-matched to the roofing sheet (e.g., Colorbond colors).
Durability    Rated for Category 5 cyclonic wind conditions in specific regions.

3. Key Technical Benefits
Anti-Pull-Through: In a storm, wind "uplift" can pull a roofing sheet straight over the head of a standard screw. The large footprint of the cyclone washer prevents this "rim-pull" failure.
Rib Support: By cradling the crest of the roof rib, it prevents the metal from deforming or flattening when the fastener is tightened.
Large-Scale Sealing: Covers a much larger area around the drill hole than a standard 16mm or 19mm washer, ensuring no water ingress even under high-pressure wind-driven rain.

4. Common Dimensions and Profiles
Because roofing profiles vary by manufacturer, cyclone washers are profile-specific:
Corrugated (S-Rib): Curved to fit the standard wavy pattern.
Trapezoidal (Trimdek/Span): Flat-top with angled sides to fit square-ribbed profiles.
Size: Typically measures roughly $25\text{mm} \times 40\text{mm}$ or $30\text{mm} \times 30\text{mm}$.

5. Installation Performance
Placement: Must always be installed on the crest (peak) of the roofing rib, never in the valley (where water flows).
Alignment: The "saddle" of the washer must align perfectly with the rib to ensure an even seal.
Compression: Tighten until the EPDM gasket is compressed by approximately 25% to 30%. The metal plate should not be bent or deformed by the screw head.

6. Primary Applications
Cyclonic Regions: Mandatory for roofing in "High Wind" zones (e.g., Northern Australia, Florida, Caribbean).
Industrial Warehousing: On buildings with large surface areas where wind uplift is a major structural concern.
High-End Residential: Used as a premium leak-prevention measure even in non-cyclonic areas.
